Pass Plus for Hamsphire Residents

For those client’s in the 17 – 24 age group residing in Hampshire and have passed their driving test in the last 12 months, Hampshire County Council will pay £75.00 towards your pass plus training course. In addition to this saving, by you attending the Pass Plus course you could save up to 30% on car insurance.

  

The aim of the Pass Plus scheme is to reduce young driver casualties in support of the Government casualty reduction strategy and casualty reduction targets, which are to reduce road deaths and serious injuries overall by 40% and by 50% for children by the year 2010. In 2005, 88 car drivers and passengers in the 17 to 24 year age group were killed or seriously injured on Hampshire roads alone. A further positive outcome from attending the Pass Plus course is that you may be entitled to up to a 30% reduction on your car insurance premium beginning with the 1st year insurance.

 

The Council sponsorship scheme uses the DSA Pass Plus training scheme for new drivers, delivered by Hampshire based Approved Driving Instructors (ADI’s) only, who are themselves suitably qualified and registered with the DSA to teach Pass Plus. In addition, theory education has been provided by the Council Road Safety Team (RST) to all those ADI’s participating in the scheme.

 

In summary of the application process, it is necessary for the you the client to personally contact the Road Safety Team at Hampshire County Council in order to obtain their written authorisation that your address and post code is included in their list of areas that qualify for sponsorship. You may make contact with the RST either by completing the application form provided on the last page of their brochure and returning it by post to the appropriate address, or by phoning the road safety team directly on 01962 846888, or by emailing your enquiry to road.safety@hants.gov.uk. Further information of the County Council’s commitment to the scheme can be obtained by entering their website at www.hants.gov.uk/roadsafety. Once you have received written authorisation from the RST, you are asked to contact Smart Driver Training directly in order that we may arrange suitable dates and times for you to attend the 6 modules of Pass Plus. Please note the Council will not send to you any monies by return.

 

At the first training module, it would be necessary for your instructor to complete the last section of the authorisation form and return it to the RST by post. It would also be necessary for you to settle the outstanding total of £75.00 for attending the scheme. Settlement can be made either by cheque or cash payment as we did in your driving lessons. Once you have completed the 6 modules of Pass Plus, We are then obliged to send a copy of the completed Pass Plus training report along with an invoice to the RST in order for them to settle the £75.00 arrears owing to your intructor.
